Though I am still fond of the game of basketball, yet no more infatuated about it…..
For the simple reason that during my teenage years, I used to sustain pain to my hips and legs, while playing this game. Movements such as spinning around, rushing, hopping and bouncing back——all these would position additional wrench on my legs and hips. However, my ten year old son by some means seems to have an inborn liking for this game. So I decided to become a knowledgeable instructor not only for my Andrew but also for his teammates. The entire idea was to facilitate the making of a superb capable basketball group. Consequently I composed a precise plan with emphasis on physical exercises meant to improve the strength of those kids along with intellectual preparation to assist the young performers to identify the moves of the rival group and take appropriate action with swift reflexes.

2017 isn’t just a thought anymore, it’s here. Like every new year’s resolution- people are always constantly finding new things to improve upon as the new year starts. For many people physical health and wealth are the biggest new years resolutions. If you haven’t already noticed, I’m pretty obsessed about basketball. I’ve always had a love for the game. What better way to show my love for the game, than to make it a point to play more during the new year?
Becoming a better basketball player has always been on my mind, but it does take a lot of time and effort to become the best you can. There are so many different components of a basketball players game that must be addressed and perfected. Every time I step on the basketball court it’s always a pleasure and something I look forward to everyday. Like most people, I have a regular day job working 9 to 5; so when I have the time during the end of the day to release tension and shoot some hoops it’s always a plus.

Just like any sport in the world, fitness is vital to be at the top your game. You never want to learn this that hard way. Growing up in school, kids would play basketball or soccer at recess everyday. Through playing the game kids would get into “basketball shape” but rarely would kids train in gyms on their spare time. When you start to get older, your fitness level becomes even more important than before. If you neglect the fitness training required to become a better athlete, than it will certainly show on the court. If professional athletes are constantly getting better in the weight room, shouldn’t you? The answer is of course. Basketball is no exception. In fact being in shape may be the most important factor when it comes to game day play. Years and years of dribbling, shooting, and passing will naturally show in the game, but the athletes that are in top physical condition will separate from the pack. Just like any other sport there are certain areas of fitness that must be addressed regularly. Strength training, cardio-vascular training, and flexibility training should be taken seriously to become a great basketball player.

Having had an avid love for basketball that has lasted my entire life, one of my lifelong goals was to be able to have a basketball court installed in my own backyard.
Over the years, I have spent much of my time working from home, and during nearly every break from work that I took, I was always longing to shoot a couple hoops before getting right back to work. The problem was, the only hoops nearby were at parks or at the local gym.
After years of dedicated work and building up enough savings, I have finally done it! I live in Nor Cal, and hired a Stockton concrete contractor to install a concrete court in my backyard where I installed my own full size hoop into the ground. I love it, what do you guys think of this court?

Although I grew up living a privileged neighborhood playing for an elementary school team full of skilled players, the school season of basketball wasn’t enough for my itching craving of playing basketball at any possible moment, and my parents knew it.
AAU (Amatuer Athletic Union) basketball was a godsend for my family. It gave us the chance to travel to different cities and play against incredibly skilled players that we normally wouldn’t have had the opportunity to play against. Playing for different AAU basketball teams were some of the best times I had in my life. Other than the time I woke up with bed bug bites all over my body in a hotel room in the bay area, I hold all of my travel basketball memories very fondly.
The AAU basketball players often hold an advantage over those who don’t play in the league, or other similar travel team leagues. There are also some aspects of AAU that just straight up suck. I will explain my reasoning for both perspectives. Continue reading “Travel Basketball and AAU”
